Step 1: You will need 5(2x8) or 4(2x10) boards for lounge seat & 3 boards(2x8) for back rest. The length of your 5 seat boards are dependent on the width of your cushions. Cut your boards to width of : cushions plus 6 inches(if seat cushion width is 28", add 6" to get board size, in this case = 34"). Dimensions of seat cushion in photos is 28"W x 28"L x 4" Thick. Boards in photos were cut to a length of 34".
Step 2: Now cut your back rest boards. If using large steel back rest, cut 3 boards to no less than 24" of length or if solid piece of wood cut to 20" x 24". If using 3" bounce brackets cut to width of your preferred placement on seat. ( keep bounce brackets at least .25" from seat bracket so they don't touch to preserve finish)
Step 3 : Sand and Simple finish your boards for looks and longevity. (light sanding and Simple finish applied using a roller were used for lounge in photos). Please follow instructions set by manufacturer for deck finish, curing times will vary.
Step 4: Turn your legs upside down on a flat surface, throw down some fabric first to protect the finish. Now place your 5 boards into the 1.5" slot, starting with edge pieces first. Be sure to leave a small, equidistant space between boards for water to run out. If boards do not fit, rip or sand one board to compensate. Now attach your boards using #10 1.25" Truss head wood screws at for optimal fastening.
Step 5 : Screw in Leveling feet
Step 6 : Grab a buddy. Confirm the Lounge Legs are securely attached, then turn your project right side up.
Step 7 : Now place your back rest on final board of seat. Attach with #10 1.25" Truss head screws to board.
Step 8 : Now attach wood to back rest. Use the three 2x6 boards cut to 24" to the back rest. Fasten using #10 1.25"Truss head screws. Now throw on your couch cushions.
Step 9 : Now Lounge & Enjoy!

Questions? Answers.
What size wood should I get?
We recommend getting 2x8 or 2x10 for seat and 2x6 for the back rest.
Where can I get it?
Most any big box hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes will have this in your neighborhood. Or, you can check out a local lumber store. Can't find one? Let us know and we can help out.
Do you have a kit for a couch that looks like this, not just the chair?
Not yet, but soon! In the meantime, you could make a two seater/loveseat chair by just using longer wood slats.
Does the backrest have different angle options?
We tested dozens of iterations with the backrest and decided to go with a backrest at a 80.5 degree angle. This is just enough for some backwards lean, but not too much to feel like you're overly slouching. The metal thickness also has a slight flex to it. Not too much; just enough to provide a little bit of extra comfort while lounging and sharing time with friends and family.
Will the backrest bend?
We intentionally designed this to have an ever so slight flex to it. Expect a slight flex, but not a big bend at all with the sturdy American-milled, recycled steel.
How much weight can it hold?
We've tested these to hold hundreds of lbs with ease. 🙂
Do you ship the wood with this?
We're not currently shipping wood with this initial kit. If you'd like us to in the future, just let us know by messaging us here.
Do you ship the cushions with this?
You bet! We've selected some fine cushion options for this initial drop. Of course, you can select your own option as well if you'd prefer.
Will this last outdoors, doesn't steel rust?
For our initial drop, all items will have a zinc pre-treatment to the powder coat helping increase the weather resistance. Of course, if you're right on the salt water at a beach, the weather resistance may be a bit less over the years ahead.
